Fill. Freeze. Purple drank.

That's how they get you, have to buy their tray. I saw a Space Invaders tray at the same place I got the Star Trek Pez the other weekend. I may go back there for some last minute things this week.

I downloaded a bunch of metal and trance music. I have no idea what I'm doing.

Day 20 → A hobby of yours

hob·by NOUN: An activity or interest pursued outside one's regular occupation and engaged in primarily for pleasure.

I don't race cars or build model plans or sing in a choir or have a show dog. I don't collect cows or owls or classic memorabilia.

I literally go to work, answer the phones, get into arguments with the computer, drive home, fart around online, and go to bed. I read on a regular basis, I have a large pile of DVDs, and I love everything about music, but I don't have a hobby.

Unless you consider being annoying a hobby.

Apparently the weather forecast for this week is snow, followed by more snow. HULK SMASH.

Brittany Murphy's death came as a shock. I was 11 when Clueless came out. I still tell people they're virgins who can't drive.

Leaving to do laundry, and I'm going to attempt to download White Collar. Once I finish my "adult" dinner of noodles and milk.

Made it to NYC in one piece and had a really amazing time. Slept over mirroriste's cozy gingerbread house in Queens and made it back to CT with time to spare. HA HA FORECASTS.

Yes, there was a lot of horizontal snow (Better than vertical snow! You know which kind!) and ice in the face, but it was worth it! We got to see Avatar (very, very pretty) and participate in Blockbuster's imminent demise.

Today was spent gleefully shoveling my driveway. Apparently, I shovel like a man.

UNTIL NEXT TIME SNOW APOCALYPSE. I'M ALWAYS WATCHING YOU.

Um.

They did get sent and y'all should receive them before 2010 if all goes well.  But probably not before Christmas.

Please now imagine me rending my clothes and rubbing ashes into my hair in penance.  :(

Snow storm go away! We need to watch Avatar and get drunk tomorrow! SHOO.

I like how we're just on the cusp of 10 inches and now I'm being told there will be nowhere I can legally park within a mile of the train station because of plows. If we get cancelled at least I can watch Merlin....

Is there anybody in the Des Moines/Iowa area that wants to go to the Kansas City Star Trek meetup on January 2? kcmo_gqmf. I would rent a car (my car could never make it) for something like $45, picking it up early Saturday morning, drop off late Sunday. Nissan Versa, beep-beep! Gas down, gas up shouldn't exceed $55. Bingo-bango, one hundred bucks well spent.

alphabet26 and I talked last night, I know she won't be able to make it because she has plans later in the month (hay girl, haaaaay!).

We had a really good time last month and I really want to go.

I suppose if I wanted to be absolutely cruel I could tell my brother he's going to road trip with me and leave out all the meet-up details. Believe me, that's fun for no one. But he is a super-mega 20-year-old nerd, and I want him to interact with people more. I just e-mailed him a vague question.

Ooo, that's our family meet-up weekend, too.

Jack just royally pissed me off, interrupting plans I have to meet Melissa for lunch. Rude.

In a move that surprised many, the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences (AMPAS) have announced a major change for the 2010 ceremony. Instead of the usual 5 Best Picture nominee format, there will be 10 Best Picture nominees. Sid Ganis, president of AMPAS, made the announcement.

10 Best Picture Nominees- one film fan's humble opinion

Back in June, the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences (also known as AMPAS) decided that instead of the usual 5 Best Picture nominees, the 2010 Academy Awards ceremony would have 10 Best Picture nominees. Not since the 1940's have there been 10 Best Picture nominees. Some people like this idea, but many are, not surprisingly, skeptical about this. How can there be 10 Best Picture nominees, but only 5 director nominees? Will this mean more mainstream films can a nomination? And, more importantly, will there even be 10 movies worthy of a Best Picture nomination?

Day 17 → An art piece (painting, drawing, sculpture, etc.)

This effing meme.

I'm fascinated by public art, and some modern art. There is -- or there used to be -- a giant socket plug at the Des Moines Art Center. I think a huge pig, too.

But what I really like are the different takes on The Temptation (Torment) of St. Anthony. I once did an incredibly long paper on Dali, and I kept going back to this piece. I prefer Callot's:



No cutsies. Most of the detail is skewed, but it's really quite intimidating.

I finished Precious earlier tonight, and started Up immediately after. Hello, crying.

There are actually several. Music is very emotional for me. Great moments in my life are defined by music. We already covered how it may be absolutely awful music, but it's there all the same.

Work was weird today. I killed almost an hour by vacuuming all the gross salt and sand tracked through the last week.

Picked up the last of my ontd_st_ss gifts on an awful 90 minute lunch (ugh, I hate driving during the CHRISTMAS EQUALS CONSUMER season). I'm giving super serial thought to using our company account at UPS to ship everything.

Day 15 → (Recommend) A fanfic

I read a lot of fic, but I'm really awful at giving feedback to authors. When there's a lull in work, I glance through memories, recs, delicious tags, whatever I can find to read. I will also read almost any genre within my particular fandoms. I'm bad at recommending things to other people, because you never know what another person will respond to.

However. Delta Delta Vega (or Dude, Bro) by zarathuse (new Trek) was crazy entertaining.

I didn't say hi to any of my new friends, so this is me saying HAAAAAY. I love you.

I accidentally ate Britney Spears' perfume.

I have a series of items to pick up from Toys R Us & Borders and then I'm sending out Secret Santa gifts. Uhh, I actually have 3 of them. It's odd.

If you're on facebook (and are my friend, because I didn't unlock it - so add me, I suppose) this is the best thread ever. Truth. It created something this beautiful.

All my car mix cds are disappearing. I choose to blame the weather.
